Inchie Challenge

This is totally not photography - but it's creative, so I figured I'd post it here.

The Inchie Challenge is a watercolor thing Renee turned me on to last year. You get a prompt and are supposed to do art on this little "Inch" paper.  She usually does watercolor, so I got a small little watercolor pallet. They did this challenge for 12 days. I'm no artist at all, but I found myself really enjoying myself so I signed up again this year, but it was only 7 days. So, I opted to join her website to continue through the month of August. It's called Mindful Art Studio. I've so loved doing these! Thought I'd share them all in one place.

Wildflower

Sprinkles

Blue. I had an idea, but then I just started mixing all the blues together and then traced the blob.

Landscape. I do love the weirdness of watercolor

Lines

Eucalyptus. This one surprised me. Now yes - I did look up Koala on the internet to get something to look at, but I was surprised how much I liked him! How cute is he!

Complicate. Um, what's more complicated than being a woman

Seed

Petal. I tried to cover the whole sheet with petals. But some lovely woman in the group said "You did the green - so you did cover the whole thing!" I love this group.

Surround. I kept thinking "Surround yourself with music"

Dotted. Didn't know where this was going to go but of course it went in the direction of a flower!

Orange

This prompt was "Repeat" it seems a lot of the other folks in the group just repeated an Inchie we'd already done - I went a different direction and repeated a bunch of things I love.

Fruit. Um....obvi I went here!
Brown  - all I could think of was a tree trunk!

Emerge. I kept trying to draw a cocoon and failing, so I came up with this

Circles

Fields

Sharp (A gal the group said it reminded her of Piet Mondrian!)
Universe

Soft

Variation

Striped

Tiny. Dolly Parton passed away this day, and her favorite flower was a yellow rose.

Wings

Night

This wasn't part of the challenge - Libby liked my Koala so much, I made her a Panda!

Mystery

Oval. Got a little impatient here. I do need to learn to let things dry in between....

Flight

Purify

My entire collection from the August Inchie Challenge!

Water

Much more excited to get this one! Hung on to this one for a bit longer.

The day I drew it we went to the Circle - so of course I had to get the fountain!

One of my favorite things is reflections in water

And of course the best Water shots are at the beach!

High Contrast Lighting

Ok - so unfortunately it seems this deck may be more geared for things I'd set up myself. For instance - I drew "Bowl of water with something next to it". I gave myself a pass and drew another one. Got High Contrast lighting. I almost put it back, but thought no....I need to do this.

No. No I don't.

My goal is to pull a card and be inspired to look for these sorts of things whilst in my every day life. Trying to help my eye see the creative.

I do like the idea of setting up shots, but that's not what I was searching for. Not right now anyway.

So - I held on to High Contrast Lighting for a few weeks (I'm also not sticking to the weekly anymore) and thought - you know what?! It's ok! I'm literally doing this by myself. There's no rules.

So here's the 1 high contrast lighting shot I got in 3 weeks that wasn't something I set up and I'm now going to draw cards until I get something that I can work into every day life.

Let's see what the next draw brings...

Insects...

Ok ew - but let's get creative shall we?

Oooooo Spiderwebs in the early morning are fun!

And snails are kinda cute!

Rascal trying to eat an ant

I actually kept this card for 2 weeks hoping to find some more ways to photograph but with our awful winds and just no damn butterflies or bees it seem, I just gave up on this one.

I did get a few.

On to the next.

BLUE

So I know this is mixed in amongst my Photo a Week(s) Cards but Noel, Renee and I did a "Color Quest" one day. We hit up the OC Circle about 10am and Renee did a little generator thing and assigned us colors!

I'm really trying to get creativity back into my life in any way I can find. I really enjoyed just walking around an area I'm familiar with looking at it differently because I was searching for a color.

I got blue!

Here's my grid!

And the rest of the photos below are all the "Blue" I found!

Kind of love the house, dumpster and sky - all various blues

I'm such a fan of cool doors
